This program is specifically designed for organizations incorporating the "team" concept in their management structure. It is designed to give team members and leaders alike the opportunity to learn effective methods for giving and receiving feedback directed at one's personal performance.
OBJECTIVES
- Demonstrate the use of three questioning methods.
- Identify words/phrases that aid and/or detract from the appraisal process
- Demonstrate appropriate agenda construction.
- Identify non-verbal variables that influence interaction.
- Identify strategies for confirming understanding.
APPROPRIATE FOR: All organizational levels that are involved in peer or supervisor/subordinate appraisal.
RECOMMENDED GROUP SIZE: 28 or less
DURATION: Eight (8) hours
METHODS
- Lecturettes, paper/pencil instruments, small group discussions, and videotaped presentations will be used to present the instructional content.
- Visual aids - flip charts, VCR, overhead transparencies, and handouts.
RESULTS
- Participants will be able to identify communication strategies that enhance the goals of appraisal and to practice enabling verbal behaviors.
