Public speaking is the great fear of professional employees today. This program is designed for the first time speaker. The program gives basic information concerning how to and how not to prepare for and evaluate their own presentations.
OBJECTIVES
- Gain understanding of the characteristics and organization of the oral business report.
- Examine the difficulties associated with preparing for and delivering presentations.
- Learn ways to factually and visually support the message they are attempting to convey.
- Examine how to prepare and organize a message and how to deliver the message to a specific audience.
- Learn what bad habits are evidenced in speakers.
- Learn to analyze their audience and construct their speech to fit the audience.
- Investigate and evaluation instrument for oral presentations that will direct their attention to each major segment of the presentation.
APPROPRIATE FOR: All employees that will be giving presentations.
RECOMMENDED GROUP SIZE: 12-16
DURATION: Two (2) days.
METHODS
- Lecturettes, group discussion, practice presentation, and exercises will be used to present the content of this program.
- Visuals will include overhead transparencies, flip charts, handout materials, and video taping of participants.
RESULTS
- Participants will be able to recognize the major components of an effective presentation.
- Understand how to prepare for, present, and evaluate oral presentations.
- They will not be accomplished presenters until they have had the opportunity to practice this skill.
