Two factors underscore the importance of giving your key employees interviewing skills. First, the high cost of making the wrong selection and second, the increased demand for more employees (team members) to be active in the selection process. The interviewing program is designed to give some practical suggestions on how to be effective as one is involved in interviewing individuals for employment.
OBJECTIVES
- Understand the generic selection process as a sequence of events.
- Understand how to prepare for an interview.
- Learn how and be able to practice questioning techniques.
- Explore some general legal parameters concerning the questioning process.
- Be exposed to decision making process.
- Understand past behavior as a prediction of future behavior.
- Be exposed to some common pitfalls in the interview and selection process.
APPROPRIATE FOR: All employees that will have an opportunity to be a part of any organization selection procedure.
RECOMMENDED GROUP SIZE: 12-16
DURATION: Eight (8) hours
METHODS
- Lecturettes, small group discussion, role-plays and simulations will all be used.
- Visual includes flip charts, overhead transparencies, handouts, and possible some video taped feedback of role-plays.
RESULTS
- Understand a generic selection process and the role the interview plays in the selection of the appropriate candidate for the organization.
- Each participant, through practice sessions, will be expected to improve his/her interviewing skills.
